Weiss Consulting has exciting endeavors to report!

Publication:  Environmental Collaboration Case Book

The innovative public engagement work we did on the Penns Neck Area Environmental Impact Statement in the Princeton, NJ area is one of the case studies reported in a new case book titled Deep Lessons on Collaboration: How Collaboration Really Works. This compilation, edited by Patrick Sanaghan and Weiss Consulting associate Nancy Aronson, was released late in 2009 by the editors, the Heritage Conservancy, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. The Penns Neck project, also described briefly on this site, was an opportunity to forge alliances and overcome animosity among many community groups who shared a congested roadway. We are delighted to be included in this publication. Please contact us for more information, or to order copies, write to Orders@Xlibris.com.

Presentation:  Facilitator as Designer

Lonnie Weiss and Nancy Aronson are on the agenda at IAFNA 2010, the North American conference of the International Association of Facilitators, held April 2010 in Chicago. We created a full-day training and a shorter workshop to illuminate the principles behind designing interactive meetings that elicit a collaboration response in people. Our presentations build upon the analysis and seminar “The Collaboration Imperative” developed by Nancy and colleague Gil Steil, Jr. Facilitators usually do careful design work before standing up in front of a group. Our conference presentations make the case for giving even more careful attention to the designer role in facilitation. More information about the conference and its program is available at www.iafna2010.com.

Project Delivery:  Defense Department Task Force

The Defense Task Force on Sexual Assault in the Military Services completed its work and delivered its final report to the Secretary of Defense and to Congress late in 2009. Lonnie Weiss served as facilitator to this Congressionally-appointed Task Force, the third such group she has supported. Congressional Subcommittee members and staff praised the quality and comprehensive nature of the report and the depth of its coverage. It was an honor to contribute to the Task Force’s discussion and deliberation processes, and to support them in developing recommendations that will help members of the armed forces.
